Welcome to American Baptist Churches of the South East Area--online!
We hope you'll find here what you need to understand who we are, what we believe, what we do, and why we do it the way that we do. We are Baptists--that is, people who are grouped together by faith in our Lord, but not easily defined by creeds or dogma. We are a freedom loving people who believe God speaks to individuals who seek Him, and that we're not all necessarily led to the same conclusions, but that hearing from God often requires we hear each other.
We invite your participation. Check us out and send us your questions or comments!
A family of churches in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas; behold what mighty things God can grow from such small beginnings. The OAK.
Our family of churches in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas is a family on a mission. We unite in order that the Kingdom of God will increase. Without the mission we would not be family. While we treasure our times together, we remember that the mission is what is important.
We organize together with three things in mind. The organization connects us, encourages us, and equips us for the sake of our mission.
We have several bottom lines. We measure:
- the number of baptisms, as well as per capita baptisms
- the increase in church attendance
- the increase in the number of churches and new church plants
- the effectiveness of covenant mission groups
Covenant mission groups are teams made up of at least three people from different churches, up to five churches in size. They come together to accomplish a mission project. Mission projects may take many forms, from starting a new church to re-utilizing medical furniture. Covenant groups emphasize the personal sacrificial mission of our church members and our churches.
